How We Calculate Your Recovery
Transparency is key to efficiency. Our calculator uses the Standard Empirical Formula widely used in the Indian Sugar Industry for quick estimation.
The Formula:
Recovery % = Pol % Cane – (Final Molasses % × 1.08) – 0.70
Breakdown of Variables:
- Pol % Cane: The initial sucrose content entering the factory.
- Final Molasses %: The percentage of cane weight that ends up as molasses.
- 1.08 Factor: This is the standard Melassigenic Factor. It accounts for the sucrose explicitly lost into the molasses (sugar that cannot be crystallized).
- 0.70 Constant: This represents the standard combined loss for Bagasse (approx 0.55%) and Press Mud (approx 0.15%).
“Note: This formula assumes a standard mill efficiency. If your actual recovery is lower than our calculation, your Unknown Losses might be too high. Consider auditing your Mill Sanitation and Weighbridges.”
